Creative Sewing
Mona is a creative mind and upcycling designer. She creates unique pieces made from various materials at Louvart Atelier. In her workshop series, she takes you along on a creative journey to learn techniques for decorating your fabric, sewing practical extra pockets, and making a unique summer blouse. With Mona you will create pieces of art made of fabric!
Hang-over Beltbag
In this 5-hour workshop, you will sew the “Hangover” belt bag from #monabau design.
The bag is particularly suitable for jazzing up items of clothing that don’t have pockets. A garden or tool bag can also be made from sturdier materials (jeans, linen, thin tarpaulin fabric). For dancing queens, a zip pocket is added to the inside. Better safe than sorry.
These basic skills can be deepened in the workshop
- Bag with round opening
- Apron string
- Zip with lining pocket if desired
Some previous sewing experience is recommended.
Manipulating Fabric
In this 3-hour workshop, we will design a piece of fabric that can then be used, for example, as the front part for the top that will be sewn in the Summer Blouse workshop.
We focus on the materials linen or cotton (plain weave). You are also welcome to use old shirts.
You will learn techniques that are particularly suitable for these materials. After a short theory input, the techniques will be tested, a final design selected, and we will get straight down to work.
The following techniques will be demonstrated in the workshop.
- Sashiko basics
- Decorative embroidery with net fabric
- Decorative embroidery with linen
- Upcycling of men’s shirts
Some previous sewing experience is recommended.
Summer Blouse
In this 5-hour workshop, we will sew a simple summer top. You can use the self-designed fabric from the Manipulating Fabric workshop. Alternatively, the top can also be sewn from a plain linen or cotton fabric.
You will learn the following techniques:
- Neck facing
- Side slit
- Short sleeves
- Adjusting small darts according to body shape
Some previous sewing experience is recommended.
